Staring at that Ad for a while?
Imagine yourself walking into an art museum. You’re strolling through each hallway and one particular painting captures your attention. You find yourself staring at it for a long time. At first, you see the full image, then you shift your focus to the colors, the type of paint that was used, the strokes... Every aspect of the painting is important for the full piece. Each element has a purpose.
Marketing communications have elements of their own. They can be visual, auditory, the message itself; a variety of things. As marketers, focusing on these specific elements are extremely important to really speak to our audience.
Michelle Greenwald describes how an element like VR can enhance storytelling for audiences, “The more multi-sensory communication enables viewers to better see, hear, feel and identify with what others are experiencing.”
If you set an intention for each element in an advertisement, you can really connect with your audience and make them feel something. An ad with several elements is multi-faceted and can speak to different people, depending on who’s looking at it - just like an art piece.
